  • Afon Mel sweet honey mead is made from wildflower honey
  • Fantastic depth of flavour

Their meads are made using the traditional method of simply fermenting honey with water, they have the true taste of honey wine.

Brewed by the monks through the middle ages, mead was the mainstay of Welsh courtly life. It is reckoned to be the oldest alcoholic drink in the world. All over Europe it was thought to be an aphrodisiac and given to newlyweds to drink for a month, hence the origin of the word 'honeymoon'.

Celebrated in the poetry of Anerin and Taliesin, it was a drink for which the Welsh were justly famous. Afon Mel has a smooth, fruity taste which makes it easy to drink and enjoy in a variety of different ways, and not just by newlyweds.

Afon Mel Honey Farm & Meadery launched over twenty years ago. Inspired by a family’s love and passion for beekeeping. Their devotion to bees & honey is the driving force behind their mission. To produce top quality artisan products driven by taste and made by nature.
