Brewed by the monks through the middle ages, mead was the mainstay of Welsh courtly life. Maybe the oldest alcoholic drink in the world.

All over Europe it was thought to be an aphrodisiac and given to newlyweds to drink for a month, hence the origin of the word 'honeymoon'. Celebrated in the poetry of Anerin and Taliesin, it was a drink for which the Welsh were justly famous.

Afon Mel Honey Farm & Meadery launched over twenty years ago. Inspired by a family’s love and passion for beekeeping. Their on-going devotion to bees & honey is the driving force behind their mission to produce top quality artisan products driven by taste and made by nature.

Hidden on the rural outskirts of New Quay, this picturesque farm, set in an old chapel full of history. Making it a truly magnificent location for any nature lover. Established in 1995, their farm is a traditional family-run honey farm based in Ceredigion - Mid Wales.
