Port Season Is Here... And It’s Time For Taylor’s
There’s no greater time of year than port season. But of course, there’s no denying that we’re a little biased.
We think that something magical happens when the first leaves start to fall. The crisp, cold weather begins to creep in and the evenings get a little darker, bringing friends and family together – more often than not around a good meal and a warm fire.
From Halloween and Bonfire Night, where we brave the great outdoors with thick blankets and coats, to Christmas and New Year’s, port wine season is a time of utter joy and indulgence. And we invite you to join us.
Taylor’s Late Bottled Vintage (LBV)
The perfect way to cap the season’s countless cosy moments is with a bottle of Taylor’s late bottled vintage. With its intense fruit flavours, elegant notes and generous warmth, all it needs is good food and great company.
Aged in large wooden vats for between four and six years, during which time it matures and settles, you don’t need to decant it – once the cork is drawn, you can serve by the glass for a number of tantalising weeks.
A Feast With Friends
The ultimate reward after a crisp autumn walk is a well-earned feast with friends, complete with a glass of Taylor’s Port.
For those who are truly honest with themselves, it’s the final course that we all look forward to most at this time of year. Light chocolate mousses. Baked orange tarts. Perhaps a cheeseboard with a soft, creamy brie or delicious blue cheese. All make perfect partners for a glass of Taylor’s LBV – and if you weren’t obsessed by the perfect finishing touch before, you will be after this.
Trick Or Treat?
As a question, “trick or treat” is as easy to answer as “Taylor’s or no Taylor’s”. A more difficult proposition this Halloween is whether you partner our late bottled vintage port with a chocolate mousse or a piece of cheese. Whichever you choose, you and your guests will undoubtedly discover that there’s far more thrill to be had from ‘treats’ than ‘tricks’.
Gunpowder, Treason & Port
A roaring bonfire. Dazzling fireworks. Fizzing sparklers lighting up happy faces. The cosiness of bonfire night presents the perfect opportunity to host your own event – full of the food, drink and people you love.
When the outside spectacle has finished, retreat to the warmth and comfort of indoors with a side of indulgence. A chocolate dessert – be it a rich tart or a generous pile of brownies – and an open bottle of Taylor’s is just the ticket. And for those with a savoury tooth, a cheeseboard with aged Cheddar and salty blues could be the perfect finishing touch.
Christmas, By Taylor's
Christmas is a time for tradition, old and new; from food and music to opening presents, it’s a chance to discover things we love – and revisit them year after year.
Our port comes into its own at this very special time. Discover port recipes such as our Christmas Pudding, chutneys and punch, or treat yourself to a bottle of Taylor’s vintage port, which is made only in our finest years – and complements perfectly the ‘King of English Cheeses’. Or, as some call it, a ripe and buttery mature Stilton.
Toast The New Year
Reflect on the year that’s been and raise a glass to the one that’s just begun – and be sure to fill it with something special.
Put a twist on tradition with Taylor’s late bottled vintage port, the only accompaniment your food and celebrations need – and the perfect complement for petit fours and chocolate truffles. For those who wish to indulge further still, we invite you to step into the rich history of serving puddings and ports. Here you can discover how to get the most from a Taylor’s aged tawny, or what to serve with our Quinta de Vargellas – and be adored by those with a sweet tooth by making our famed baked peaches in port.
