Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Ports are single year Ports. They have a high quality level, with a good colour and body, a fine aroma and taste, but unlike Vintage they mature in cask for a period of four to six years and are then bottled. The result of this process is a Port which can be drunk earlier than a Vintage Port.
Krohn’s LBV Ports are neither fined nor filtered and may thus throw a sediment.
Profound, velvety, rich ruby colour. Lovely mature fruit nose; rich jam/compote aroma – notes of quince. Undertones of leather and spice. On the palate the wine is very smooth, very rich, rounded, plum. Fruit flavours of cherry, plum, prune, date – an attractive hint of spice. The wine has good complexity and intensity of flavour. Medium bodied – nicely weighted.
HOW TO SERVE
Krohn LBV is the perfect finish to any meal. It does not need to be decanted and should be served in a generously proportioned wine glass so that its rich fruity nose can be enjoyed to the full. Excellent with fully flavoured cheeses, especially blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort. It is also delicious with desserts made with chocolate or berry fruits.
