I am delighted to announce the release of the keenly anticipated Taylor’s 1967 Single Harvest.
Taylor’s extensive and enviable library of very old Ports which includes a number of casks from single harvests, patiently awaiting bottling and release. Every year since 2014 Taylor’s has released limited amount of Single Harvest Port made 50 years previously. The fourth in this series, the 1967 is of exceptional character and that has already received 98 points from Wine Spectator.
Often referred to as Colheitas, these single harvest Tawny Ports are a far cry from Vintage Port. Extended ageing in oak casks creates ports of extreme aromatic complexity with delightfully mellow structures. The 1967 is a perfect follow-up to their outstanding 1966, it is superb now but also has plenty of life ahead.
Broad amber rim, with olive highlights, around a mahogany gold core. Complex nose with notes of orange flower, marmalade, warm walnuts, pistachio and hints of sultanas and spice.
The palate is smooth and honeyed but lifted by a crisp acidity. The luscious flavours of damson, apricot preserve and fig persist into the long mellow finish. Beautifully balanced and finely constituted with remarkable length.
How to Serve
Taylors 1967 Single Harvest needs no accompaniment.
